This piece is rhythmically and structurally based on a 43/8- bar, which contains asymmetrically linked duads and triads. The result is a pulsing continuum and a seemingly free rhythm. Climax and ending of the composition is the overlap of the initial percussion solo with the crab of the flute solo, which is very demanding to the musicians.
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
