This piece describes the bird calls heard at the start of the day. Melodic fragments are shared between the three equal flute parts. Sometimes they synchronise, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they harmonise, sometimes they work in very different keys. The whole thing melds together to create a strong mood and atmosphere.
