More About Me
Flute for ages 8-88! I enjoy teaching all ages and standards, beginners to post grade 8, in preparation for exams or just for fun. I accompany pupils in lessons either on the piano or as flute duets.
Recent pupil successes include teaching the very young on a curved head-joints, all grades but especially Grades 7 and 8, the new ARSM and the dipABRSM. I specialise in finding fast-track methods for efficient learning, especially for sixth formers at Peter Symonds College applying to university through UCAS, or busy grown-ups returning to the flute after a break.
I was originally educated at Chetham's and the Royal Academy of Music, where I won the flute prize and a Countess of Munster award. I played the flute professionally giving solo recitals, performing with orchestras including early twentieth-century and contemporary chamber music, on the flute, piccolo and alto flute.
I also teach aural tests and grade 5 theory of music.
