Profile last updated: 28 Dec 2022
I studied at the RNCM with Kate Hill, graduating in 1985. After further diplomas, in December 2019, I passed my FRSM with Distinction. Like many teachers, I have had a steep learning curve at the beginning of lockdown and now offer lessons via Zoom or Skype.
With over 30 years teaching experience, I teach the flute at Keele University; Wolverhampton Grammar School, and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and I have many private pupils. I perform lunchtime recitals all around the North West and play with Preston Flute Group. I am the principal flute of Southport Orchestra and have performed Doppler’s ‘Hungarian Pastoral Fantaisie’ and the Reinecke Concerto with them.
I have the highest expectations for all my students - most of whom choose to take grade exams. The more experienced students take ABRSM or Trinity diplomas. What I teach:
