Emma Syska

After studying at the Purcell School and Cambridge University, I have been teaching the flute for over twenty years, in state and private schools, and at home. I have taught a large range of ages (my youngest student was 7 and my eldest is was over 70) and have taught beginners through to advanced levels; where appropriate I have supported and encouraged students in their exams, and I have accompanied my students up to grade 8 level. Music making is always at the centre of my teaching alongside establishing a solid technical grounding. As well as teaching I was principal flute in the Sinfonia of Birmingham for many years and performed in the Syska flute quartet. I now live and teach in North Wales.
