This book is purely designed to evaluate, which it does very successfully through a series of interesting puzzles. It starts with the basics of stave, notes and rests, and then covers rhythm, note names, key signatures, symbols and terms, time signatures, the keyboard and ends with more tests to cover everything learned so far. Each puzzle is clearly laid out and relevent, the only problem being the continental use of quarter notes etc. Although it seems expensive, the fact that you can photocopy pages makes it really appealing, especially as it's a great way to learn and quite fun.
