Concerto No.1 in G Major arranged for Three Flutes, K313
- Editor's Choice
This is a great way to introduce concerto playing to three players at the same time! Learning a work from the inside by playing the orchestra reduction is almost more valuable than playing the solo flute part so everyone benefits here. Parts 2 and 3 are tricky in themselves as they attempt to recreate the sound of the original by passing the bass and upper parts between them. Use of an alto flute makes this easier as it gives more weight of sound to the end product but three C flutes works well too. Educational rather than concert material but, as not all have access an orchestra, this arrangement will give performance opportunities where otherwise there would be none.
