Solace is Scott Joplin’s only Tango. Together with The Entertainer, it was used to great effect on the soundtrack of the 1970's film “The Sting” starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Played slowly and carefully, paying particular attention to the pauses, Solace is highly effective as a flute solo.
