Butterfly Fandango (2 flutes) [Playing score]
- Highly recommended
From the Publisher
Butterfly Fandango is a flirtation between two butterflies. Their dance begins rather modestly. Each new bar becomes slightly more active. At bar 20 the second butterfly takes over the dominant role of flirting as the work becomes more excited and even slightly chaotic towards the end.
Rhythmic presision, tempo and clean articulation are very important for a successful performance of this piece. The repeats are essential - most bars are to be played 4 times each unless otherwise stated - some bars on the final page are repeated fewer times creating a sense of chaos amongst the butterfiles' excitement.
Performance duration (approx): 3'30''
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
