The Altus 1107 flute has awesome tonal qualities, as I get a lovely, rich deep tone in the low register, and a more brighter sounding tone in the middle register. I can also get this flute to respond to whatever I’m playing with very little effort. I also transitioned from a closed hole Miyazawa flute to an open holed Altus within a couple of months, which took me by surprise. The Altus 1107 is a lovely flute upgrade for anyone who is looking for a well rounded and darker sounding flute that offers something a little different from the traditional Stirling silver flutes.
“An excellent flute”
I was looking for a flute to play mainly Scottish traditional music, with a big volume and a "thick" William Bennett sound. I have a wonderful modern Boehm wooden flute, but wanted a silver flute sound. It certainly did both things. I recommend this flute and I recommend the service from Just Flutes, which was spot on.
“Great versatile flute”
I was looking for a flute to upgrade my worn out Yamaha. I play traditional Irish folk music on a keyless wooden flute, but need a boehm system flute for Scottish folk music. My focus was on getting a flute which could produce a warmer and earthier tone at the lower ranges, than is usual for classical music - and also great projection at the lower end. This one ticked all the boxes and I am very pleased with it.
I absolutely love my Altus, it really suited my sound is a great model to help me advance post-grade 8. I would recommend this flute to any experienced player wishing to take their playing to the next level, particularly with regards to tone colour and keywork.
