“A Very Useful Little Gadget”
As a "mature" beginner with a pre-existing problem in my hands with RSI, I have difficulty in bending my left finger round far enough to let the flute rest securely and it is prone to slip suddenly and without warning. These hand-positioners (I agree the term cushion is a misnomer) are small thin sticky backed pieces of plastic that adhere firmly to the flute, will peel off when necessary and have a "clingy" finish to the top side which tends to grip the skin of your finger. When they first arrived I was really disappointed because they looked too small to be useful for anything, but having worked my way through all the other finger rests on offer, these seem to have solved my slippage problem better than any of the others and being so thin and small allow you to be in much closer contact with the flute. I am very pleased with them and will undoubtedly buy some more as and when the stickiness finally wears off.
“Misleading description. Very disappointing”
I bought these because they're described as cushions, which implies some degree of padding. I get a dent in my left index finger playing my Bb flute, and I thought these would help.
They're not cushions at all, they're just very thin slivers of anti-slip material, a fraction of a millimetre thick. I notice another shop lists the same thing but as "BG A15 Flute Non Slip White Patches - 0.2mm", which is a much fairer description.
Basically, I just wasted a fiver, including the postage cost, because of a misleading product description.
