Our Description

Weber's chamber music work has never attracted much attention. It is his operas which are the focus of attention, namely the "Freischütz", his most famous and popular work. "Aufforderung zum Tanz" was composed in 1819 and originally arranged for the piano. This is the most famous one among his piano works and it reflects Weber's attraction to dance music. However, the "Aufforderung" is a real concertant piece of music and it is highly appreciated and praised as such. Hector Berlioz created an orchestra version in which flute and violoncello take over leading parts. Inspired by this adaptation, Kurt Walther arranged this edition for flute, violoncello and piano. Klaus Holle carefully supervised and published Walther's manuscript, turning it into a delightful version which enriches the chamber music repertoire.
