This is a nice early Selmer Paris soprano saxophone. The Modèle 26 was really the first popular sax made by Selmer Paris. It features many of the same design ideas as the later Cigar Cutter and Super, and it was light years ahead of its predecessor, the Modèle 22.
This sax plays with a real sweetness that can only be found on these earlier vintage Selmers. While intonation is a bit trickier than a modern soprano, it is manageable. Some old-timers call Selmers of this vintage "Pea Shooters" because of their smaller bore. Its not a big sound, and would make a great small jazz ensemble horn.
This soprano, dating from 1926, is in great condition for its age. It has just been overhauled in our workshop, where it has been stripped down, cleaned and repadded.
