Just Flutes Orchestra

Just Flutes Orchestra

Join South London’s newest flute choir, the Just Flutes Orchestra! Rehearsing weekly in Croydon, we are an exciting new ensemble where flautists can play, improve their technique and socialise.

Led by Croydon-based musicians Carolyn Kelly and Simon Desorgher, we play a range of music from Classical arrangements to show tunes to original works for flute choir.

We are supported by Just Flutes, who supply our music, as well as loaning us some more exotic instruments such as a couple of alto flutes, a bass and even contrabass flute. Players are welcome to give these a try!

Where and when?

We rehearse on Thursday evenings in term time from 7.30 to 9.15 in the Friends' Meeting House on Park Lane in Croydon (CR0 1JE). Google Maps

There is some free parking available in the adjoining car park (barrier entry - please contact us for details), and it is a short walk from East Croydon station.

Please bring a music stand. We have a break for coffee and tea - we have paper cups, but please feel free to bring a mug to help the environment.

Rehearsals 2024

  • 11 January - 21 March (half term 15 February)
  • 18 April - 27 June (half term 30 May)
  • 19 September - 12 December (half term 24 October and 31 October)

Who can join?

As an amateur ensemble, we welcome players aged 18 and over*, of grade 7+ standard. We realise that some players may want to 'test the water' before joining, so your first taster session is free. If you decide to become a member, speak to our administrator, Liza, who will guide you through the steps. There's no audition to join so come along with your flute and a music stand.

*Sixth form students may also join with parental permission.
