It is generally known fact that the 'furiant' is the national dance in Cechy (Czech Republic) and that it is characterized by strong rhythmic accents.
The 'furioso' presented here has only two elements in common with the Cechy national dance: firstly, the rousing tempo, and secondly, the brilliant musical intuition. in the 'Assai presto', the composition quickly passes by in the form of a chain rondo, and does not come to rest before the distinct piano glissando in the coda. Each of the four instruments is challenged technically, yet never unduly, and is featured in a small solo, either in the ritornello or in the episodes.
