From the Publisher
First Flute is intended as a teaching and learning resource for players at the outset of their flute studies.
The music often deals with the earliest notes learnt upon the instrument via improvistation, solos, duets, variable ensemble, listening exercises and 'vocal' concepts. We have deliberately included the words to some of the music to help with breathing, phrasing and rhythm in the student's playing.
The material can be adapted according to the circumstances and need eg in one-to-one lessons, group teaching, with or without piano, focussing on improvisation, working on repertoire and/or specific technical issues. Lesson plans may be developed around the material at will.
We encourage pupils and teachers to take as creative an approach as possible to the music and exercieses in this book as this will be the most rewarding, productive and fun route to learning the instrument!
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
