Come and be part of this exciting opportunity to discover new music and meet other musicians.

Over the course of the day, brass and woodwind players from across Hampshire will form a unique ensemble. They will receive expert tuition from the Atea Quintet tutors, take part in a variety of workshop sessions and perform in a concert to family and friends. The music chosen will be suitable for players of all standards and the day will run between 10.30am and 4pm at Barton Peveril Sixth Form College, Eastleigh, SO50 5ZA. Tickets are £15.

For family and friends to attend the end of day concert at 3.15pm a ticket must have been purchased in advance, these cost £3.

The Atea Quintet is the foremost British Wind Quintet of their generation. Internationally acclaimed, they became double prize winners at the 2015 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in Denmark. As the Associate Ensemble in Residence at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and former Quintet in Residence at the Purcell School, they regularly mentor some of the finest up and coming musicians in the country.

Since its formation in 2009, the Atea Quintet has performed in some of the finest halls in the world. Highlights include a critically acclaimed Friday night recital at the Wigmore Hall, performances at the Cheltenham, Brighton and Lake District Summer Festivals and concerts in St Martin in the Fields, Bridgewater Hall and St Johns Smith Square. Recent seasons have included tours to Japan, Scotland, the Czech Republic and residencies at the Two Moors Festival and the Dartington International Music Festival.

Here is a proposed timetable for the day ***subject to change before the event***
10am - Registration
10.30am - short welcome recital from Atea. Then split into choir sessions and technique class
11.45am - break
12.00am - masterclasses x4
1.00pm - lunch
1.30pm - choir rehearsals
2.00pm - massed wind quintet rehearsal and masterclass with HMS quintet from Hub Scholars
3.00pm - break
3.15pm - concert to parents: Atea solo items and then choir items and massed wind quintet piece. Spectators must purchase a £3 ticket in advance to attend the concert.
4pm - end of day

This day is supported by Jonathan Myall Music, who will be onsite with trade stands selling instruments, reeds, sheet music and accessories.
