The Greenwood Consort: Ian Hiscock, Mark Bennett and friends.

NEWS:

  • On Friday 8th March 2024 at 6.45pm, we are taking part in a concert for International Womens' Day, in St Lawrence Chapel, Ashburton.  The concert features a range of local performers and ensembles, each presenting the work of a woman composer.  We have two contributions:
    • Hildegard von Bingen: O splendidissima gemma (voice, double harp, nyckelharpa)
    • Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre: Sonata in D minor (violin, harpsichord, viola da gamba)
  • Dates TBC:
    • La Stravaganza - a programme of Venetian baroque music, which we hope will be hosted in St Andrew's Church, Ashburton in April 2024
    • Greenwood at 30 - an anniversary programme, to include Brandenburg Concertos nos. 4 and 6, Monteverdi's Beatus Vir, a Handel cantata and a Vivaldi recorder concerto.  In discussion over dates (26th?) in October 2024, at St Peter's Church, Ugborough.
  • On 20th January 2023 we made our SOMM CD label debut with organist Richard Lester, providing the plainchant and obligato voice for Frescobaldi's Fiori Musicali
  • The South Hams Community Orchestra is currently full.  Players of at least Grade4 standard can contact Ian (01752 698156, [email protected]) for more details or to join the waiting list.  shco.co.uk
  • Amateur recorder players who would like to play as part of a supportive and inspiring group might like to look at  https://www.recorders-at-plymouth.org.uk

We believe that music is a profound and positive force and we want to help people experience that to the full, as students, performers, composers and audiences.

If you are interested in tuition or a performance, we would love to hear from you and discuss your ideas.
