More About Me
My Qualifications: BA(Hons) Music LVCM FVCM
I graduated from Leeds College of Music with a 1st class Honours degree, and the Scheerer Prize for Woodwind. At the college I studied flute with Dr Martyn Shaw. I involved myself with many of the college ensembles, including the New Music Ensemble, where I was fortunate to play many newer works of music, my favourite performance was playing first piccolo in Reich’s “Vermont Counterpoint”. I currently enjoy playing a wide variety of genre, including Jazz Bands, Pit Bands for Musicals and larger orchestras. I have recently had lessons from Kevin Gowland (Opera North) and Jennifer Hutchinson (Piccolo, BBC Philharmonic). I have always been passionate about teaching and community involvements. I have been involved with the company Music and the Deaf and also partaken in workshops with the prolific education writer and workshop coordinator Barry Russell. I currently help coach the wind band in the Castleford Young Musicians Society, and teach woodwind around Wakefield and Castleford.
