LIS LEWIS

I am an accomplished flute-player, teacher and academic with a huge enthusiasm for music-making: I have performed at a high level in musical, teaching and academic worlds, originally training at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music and playing professionally for over ten years. I completed my MA at Kingston University (2003) and have more recently finished my PhD (Goldsmiths College, University of London).

I now teach the flute students of all ages and standards up to and including diploma level. I encourage everyone to take part in our regular concerts to support their learning experience and exam preparation and make them more rounded musicians - if they wish to take part.

When teaching the flute, my overarching aim is that every student achieves their greatest potential, regardless of their level of attainment. To this end, I try to strike a balance between being fun, friendly, approachable and inclusive.
