LESSONS I PROVIDE
Making Learning More Enjoyable
I have been specialising in teaching woodwind since 2005. My students have had much success in Associated Board exams from grade 1 to 8, diploma level and also in the local music festival and in gaining scholarships. If you are unsure which instrument to learn or are worried your child may struggle to hold the instrument properly, get in touch for more information or to schedule a trial lesson at your convenience.
I am also conducting online lessons via Skype or Zoom so you don't even have to leave your house to learn an instrument!

I teach a mixture of classical and contemporary music and I teach from the ABRSM syllabus from grade 1 through to grade 6 and have had success in exams at all grades. I welcome students from age 6 to 106, so get in touch today to start your piano journey!
ABOUT ME
I have been teaching woodwind instruments since 2005 and piano since 2014.

I started playing the piano aged ten, saxophone aged twelve and flute aged of fifteen. I was very fortunate to attend a school with a highly regarded music department, in which I quickly became an active member.

Whilst living at home I regularly played the organ for my local church and have played the piano for weddings and other special events.

After school, I was successful in gaining entry to the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall in Twickenham. Following voluntary discharge from the army, I came under the instruction of late and great David Nicholson and Catherine O’Rourke at the North East of Scotland Music School. I then studied at Aberdeen College for three years, and then later gained entry to the University of Aberdeen. At College, I achieved five music diplomas in teaching and performance which led to employment as a woodwind tutor for Aberdeen City Council, St Margaret’s School and Piano and general music at the TOTAL French School. I have now been teaching the flute, saxophone and clarinet at the International School of Aberdeen for the last thirteen years most recently, flute at Albyn school since 2021.

In 2011, I graduated from University with a BMus (Hons) in Music performance. Whilst at University I was a member of several music ensembles including the University Symphony Orchestra, Baroque ensemble, Viola da Gamba Consort and Recorder Consort. Outside the university, I have also played with the Grampian Concert Orchestra, Inverurie Orchestra, Aberdeen Chamber Orchestra, Grampian Youth Orchestra and appeared as a concerto soloist with the Grampian Concert Orchestra.

I am a member of the Independent Society of Musicians and the British Flute Society.
