More About Me
I caught the teaching bug when I was 14 and was asked to cover for my flute teacher while he was away skiing. A morning of recorder ensembles, advanced flautists older than I and there was nothing else I wanted to do more than teach.
35 years later and I have a thriving teaching practice with pupil concerts once a year and Improvisation lessons twice termly. I believe in sound before symbol so am happy to do away with musical notation but also believe it to be an important skill. I am experienced and particularly interested in students with special educational needs. I've taught as young as 6 and as mature as 81. I mainly teach one to one nowadays but am equally happy with a room full of instrumentalists. I have 17yrs teaching experience with Cardiff Music Service teaching all woodwind instruments but have also been requested by a student at Cardiff University as final year recorder tutor. I also perform regularly with a Jazz group and occasional recitals to keep new ideas flowing.
