Please note: these flutes are novelty flutes which play well, but we would not suggest them for beginners or as a substitute for the "real thing"! Just a bit of fun!

"This isn't some kind of joke or euphemism - it literally is just a purple flute (insert rude joke here).
"Just in time for Christmas, Just Flutes - Europe's largest supplier of flutes and flute music - have come up with this rather festive-looking novelty instrument for flautists wishing to add some extra sparkle to their seasonal gigs.
"Aimed at buskers, amateur and professional players who want a fun back-up instrument to use at informal gigs or whip out at the occasional encore, the purple flute is made from a base of nickel silver like most student instruments.
"The key mechanism and lip-plate are gold-plated and the body is lacquered with epoxy to give it its distinctive colour - which the manufacturer assures us will not wear off through everyday polishing.
"It has a standard split E mechanism and the keywork is strong, if a little heavy under the fingers.
"At just under £100, you might expect this instrument to handle like a piece of old tin. But the sound is surprisingly good - particularly in the top register - and it's certainly no worse than a lot of student-level flutes that you'd pay a lot more for. And they wouldn't be half as much fun."
