Our Description
P Mauriat saxophones have been causing a stir on the internet (see the Sax On The Web forum for an idea of what people are saying) and we had to see what all the fuss was about! These saxophones play freely from top to bottom, and the PMXA67R model has a big rich sound in the vintage American tradition. This plays stunningly well, and is truly in a different class to other saxes at this price level. Combine with a Vandoren Java, Selmer S80 C* or for more punch, Yanagisawa metal mouthpiece, and any of the above with a BG ligature for a great sounding horn.
Manufacturer's Description
"The P Mauriat line of saxophones is now available with rolled tone holes on the PMXA-67R model. Rolled tone holes, a feature of many of the vintage American saxes, offer performers a noticeably quieter key action because the rounded tone holes strike the pads on a slightly broader and rounder surface without digging into the leather of pad as standard tone holes will often do.
"This Custom Class 'Vintage Series' alto features dark brushed 'antiqued' lacquer and rolled tone holes. This model has a big full sound and loads of projection. The pads have seamless dome metal resonators.
"P. Mauriat tone holes are fully extruded from the brass, unlike other brand's tone holes, which are soldered-on to the body and bell."
