The complete title for this book is "JS Bach Partita in A minor with Emphasis on the Allemande - Historical Clues and New Discoveries for Performance." If you are really interested in this music (the proverbial anorak perhaps?) this is the book for you. There's just about everything here. Part One investigates the historical context of the whole Partita including a facsimile and proper version, and you are then invited to play from both to compare. You will need very good eyesight to do this though, as the facsimile isn't very well reproduced. Part Two starts by comparing 5 contemporary allemandes - 4 by Bach himself and 1 by Blockwitz. It then goes on to a structural analysis of the original, with particular reference to breathing and articulation, or structural enunciation as it is called here. There is then a section on interpretation (rhetoric analogy and emphatic delivery), followed by a brief overview of the other movements. Practice suggestions are included at various points throughout the book. Don't expect a classy hardback for your money as this was obviously produced independently within severe financial constraints and the exchange rate has done it no favours. Interesting though.
